All The Wait Was Worth It With “Dirty Dancing”

Sometimes, as a collector, all you need is patience! I’m a collector of movie memorabilia and let me tell you, at times, I had to wait for ages to get what I want. Some were, admittedly, not worth the time and effort. While others are. As was the case when I bought the movie poster of “Dirty Dancing” (1987) from AllPosters.com

I’m not a particularly huge fan of the said film but, seeing as it is a cult classic, I knew I had to have it for my collection. I searched for ages for the perfect one, and it was only when I almost reached my breaking point did I come across AllPosters.com. Not only was their poster in mint condition, but it was also selling at less than $100.00! I know collecting means having to invest more than what you’ve bargained for, but for a novice like me who’s pretty new to the game—and I’m not that well off in this economy either—this was perfect for me!

The process of ordering it was pretty simple. It was your typical online shopping experience. And honestly, that made me feel at ease. I was worried that this site will ask me to do all this mumbo jumbo just so I can place my order (I heard many memorabilia-selling websites do that!). And seeing as it said that shipping only went for 2 – 3 days, I was pumped that I would get it as soon as that. According to the site, they’re based in California, and I live in Denver, Colorado so, surely, I would get it as soon as they say! But boy, was I wrong!

Not only did I not get the poster within 2 – 3 days, but I also got it around two weeks later! By that time, I was just about ready to cancel my order! Within the waiting period, I often called the company and, though they were nice and polite to me, it seemed that they weren’t necessarily on top of the shipping as I would have preferred they were. Still, since the poster was within a price point that I was comfortable with—which isn’t common as many of my fellow collectors would know!—I calmed myself down and waited.

Fortunately, I did the right thing! The moment I got the poster, I ripped open that sucker and found one of the best movie posters I’ve ever bought. They already framed it when I got it so I didn’t have to roll it down and iron it flat like I did with the other pieces in my collection. The frame itself is also high-quality, a little bit heavy, and I could tell that it was sturdy enough to ensure that nothing would happen to the poster inside. That, for me, deserved a huge A for effort!

As for the poster, it’s as clear as ever. I’m not entirely sure if it’s an original or a re-print but the quality of it makes me think it’s the former. It still has that 80s gloss to it, one that no high-tech printing process can ever duplicate or replicate. I still sort of wish that it has at least Patrick Swayze’s autograph though, but I’m sure that would have cost me an arm and a leg. For a newbie collector such as myself, this is more than enough for now!

3.5/5

If you were to ask me what grade I’d give AllPosters.com, I’ll give them a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. The quality of the poster and the frame it came in were more than enough for me to overlook that awful shipping process I had to ensure. But I do hope they improve that soon! The website has a lot of great pieces after all. I’m sure it won’t be long until I’m shopping there again!

I kinda smell bs… you sure you ain’t paid?

Gen

Me too. There’s something fishy about it. I’ve seen from other sites that All Posters is actually shitty!

Warren Del

I’ve bought one from the site as well and yeah, the service is shitty, but their posters are high-quality, I’ll give them that.

Lee Parker

The Marvel poster I got from there is great, but yeah, terrible service.

Tanya Graunt
